Selected Work
25+ years. Fortune 500 clients. Every project starts with one question: how might this work better for the people using it? Browse a curated selection of UX/UI/LXD work — and I'd love to talk through any of it in person.
Urban Community Festival · Personal / Community Project
After a 5-year COVID hiatus, the Golden Valley Festival returned in 2025 — and with it, an opportunity to rethink the experience from the ground up.
I'm exploring one central question: How might we make this annual community festival more inclusive?
Mid-fi functional prototype built with Figma Make and Claude AI, with Cursor back-end coding and a QR-connected Google Survey for real user feedback.

UX/UI Boot Camp Project
Selected NASA's website for a responsive redesign — improving usability, accessibility, and content clarity across devices. Collaborated in FigJam on redlining, affinity diagramming, and site analysis, then owned the full solo design track.
My RoleUser testing, persona development, low/mid/hi-fi Figma prototypes, heuristic evaluation, style tile development, sitemap analysis, and a formal report with design recommendations.
Unlock Screen
Pop-Up Interaction
Training Project · Conceptual
Retail customers frustrated by locked product cases. Our solution: a mobile app letting shoppers unlock and retrieve secured items directly from their phones.
My RoleCollaborative team project — I contributed to user testing, persona development, affinity diagramming, and journey mapping in FigJam; wireframing and prototyping in Figma. I also led the team's presentation strategy, opening with industry trends to frame the problem before revealing our solution.
Training Project · Conceptual
A friend traveled solo to Germany. She arrived late, after dark, in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The next morning she woke up sick — and had no idea where to go, who to call, or how to ask for help.
This was pre-AI. No ChatGPT, no instant answers. Just a person alone in a foreign country, hoping she'd figure it out. Globe Trotter was my answer to that problem: a mobile app that puts critical local services — medical, pharmacy, police, fire, emergency contacts — one tap away, with essential phrase translation for the moments when you really need it.
My RoleEnd-to-end solo: survey, interviews, wireframes, lo/mid/hi-fi prototypes, user testing, and analysis — all in Figma.

UCare Health — Enterprise Intranet
When UCare migrated to SharePoint Online, I stepped in as the only team member with UX research and prototyping expertise — co-leading the design from low-fi concept through usability-tested, high-fidelity delivery.
My research findings directly shaped the final design, replacing a scroll-heavy layout with drop-down navigation and redesigned tiles that measurably improved adoption.
After testing: scrolling replaced with drop-down menus; tiles changed to gradient colors with larger font and more descriptive text.
UCare Health · 2019
UCare needed to train their entire organization on a platform that didn't exist yet — UAT and QA still in progress when training had to begin.
My RoleI led the needs analysis, designed mock-member training environments from scratch, built the ILT and eLearning content, and orchestrated a multi-layered rollout plan covering every department — including pre-work, classroom sessions, specialty tracks, job aids, and spaced repetition for long-term retention.
UCare Health — Cornerstone LMS
Cornerstone had sat untouched since 2014. Six years of missed updates, stale design, and lost engagement.
My RoleAfter a 2-week LMS boot camp I modernized the platform end-to-end — replacing a static homepage with a dynamic carousel, reorganizing curricula and playlists, improving UX across the board, and supporting contract negotiations with Cornerstone. Close collaboration with IT, Leadership, L&D Ops, and Cornerstone support ensured seamless rollouts and lasting impact.
UCare Health — L&D
I inherited Lectora courses built almost entirely from click-to-reveal text blocks — no scenarios, no context, no learner engagement.
My RoleOver 5 years I replaced them with interactive, scenario-based courses in Articulate Storyline, personally designing and developing every compliance, product, and customer service course in UCare's library — including Compliance, Product Training, Medicare Star Ratings, GuidingCare Software, and Customer Service. I also built a "Rise Wrapper" now used company-wide to deliver meeting videos through the LMS with professional polish.
Curricula Map
Process Flow
UCare Health · 2022
UCare's annual curricula rollout was crashing Cornerstone. Literally. What started as 4 courses had grown into a multi-layered, nested curricula system that the LMS couldn't stage.
I redesigned the entire rollout architecture — introducing a Curricula Map for at-a-glance management, a 38-step process flow paired with a multi-page illustrated spreadsheet, and a mentorship program to build team redundancy. Crashes: eliminated.
UCare Health · 2024
Tracking DEIA completion across two separate Cornerstone modules — Performance and Learning — was manual, inconsistent, and error-prone.
My RoleI designed a solution connecting both systems, prototyped and tested it in our Cornerstone Pilot environment, and documented the full process in FigJam. Then I built an Articulate Rise course with an embedded Microsoft Form to automate the completion approval trigger — touching HR Ops, L&D, Cornerstone Admin, Instructors, and Learners.

Life Time Fitness — Fitness Trainer Certification
Converting a 2+ hour narrated PowerPoint into a 10-day virtual certification program is exactly as hard as it sounds.
My RoleProject manager, instructional designer, and eLearning developer — building scenario-based VILT in Word and PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline courses delivered via Adobe Connect into Cornerstone LMS, across four topic tracks: Brand & Business, Metabolic Science, Nutrition, and Programming.
Samples of my interactive storytelling approaches in eLearning courses.

PACT-MN · Board of Directors · 2020
Leading a professional association through 2020 — remote, mid-pandemic, with volunteers across multiple teams — required clarity above all else. As Board President for PACT-MN, I managed two monthly meetings, kept multiple teams aligned on shifting deadlines, and designed a visual schedule that made everyone's responsibilities impossible to miss. When the environment is chaotic, good design holds things together.
Personal Project · Originally published on App Store 2013–2018 · Redesign in progress 2026
In 2013, my daughter was drowning in college applications. I decided to build her an app. What started as notecards became a paper prototype, then PowerPoint wireframes, then a published App Store product — after teaching myself enough HTML and CSS to speak the language, and hiring a programmer to bring it to life. The app lived in the Apple App Store until 2018 when I retired it.
In 2026, I'm rebuilding it entirely myself using AI-augmented development tools — now called UniSort, with a sleek modern UI and updated feature set. Whether it lands as a web app or returns to the App Store is still in play, but release is planned for 2026. Same core idea: helping students make one of the biggest decisions of their lives with clarity. What once required a hired developer now takes an afternoon.
Minnesota ABE + Portland State University — LearnerWeb
Adult learners pursuing U.S. citizenship, literacy, and employment skills deserve software that works for them.
My RoleI conducted a statewide feasibility study for scaling LearnerWeb from a single pilot to ABE sites across Minnesota — stakeholder interviews, multi-layer journey maps covering user/educator/admin/technology, personas, and a recommendations report delivered to MN ABE and Portland State University leadership. My research also surfaced additional gaps in the existing process requiring further customer support investment.
SHiFT — European Social Studies Educators
Brought in to consult on a rapid prototyping workshop for European Social Studies educators integrating climate change into their curricula using design thinking.
My RoleI designed the workshop structure, contributed presentation content, built a complete practice scenario with persona, empathy map, and journey map, and created proto-personas for breakout activities — giving teachers a tangible, repeatable design-thinking toolkit they could take home and use immediately.
